Volunteer Diver

What we need:

Our volunteer divers assist with underwater maintenance and perform dive shows alongside 35,000 live animals that plunge guests into a tour of the world’s underwater ecosystems. By joining the volunteer dive team at Wonders of Wildlife, you can enjoy diving all over the world, right here at home.

What you may do:

Assist our team with underwater maintenance and perform dive shows that plunge our guests into a tour of the world's amazing ocean habitats.

Skills & Experience:

To be considered, applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Must be 18 or older
  • SCUBA Certification
  • 20 logged dives
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • 02 Administration Certification
  • Dive Physical Completed

Volunteers who meet the minimum qualifications requirement will also complete a dive skills swim test consisting of:

Swim test skills (Completed in swim wear (not wetsuits) with no swim aids except for swim goggles):

-400 meter swim in 12 minutes or less

-25 meter underwater breath hold swim

-25 meter passive person tow

-10 minute water tread

Availability/Time Commitment:

Please take note that Dive Operations at Wonders of Wildlife take place 7 - 10 am daily. There are limited options for afternoon dives, and no options for dive operations taking place after 3 pm. Divers are required to dive 2 times a month to remain active.

Fun fact about the department:

Volunteer divers logged over 1000 hours of service in 2022.

Description

Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium educates the public on the importance of hunting and fishing to conservation. As a volunteer, you can inform our guests about the mysteries of the deep by presenting fascinating facts about our 1.5 million gallon aquarium or share the secrets of the wild by educating our guests on the history of conservation in our fully immersive 4-D wildlife galleries. Free training classes are provided- join our team today!
