STRAWDOG THEATRE COMPANY
Strawdog Theatre Company is one of Chicago’s longest-running non-Equity professional theatre
companies. Our ensemble of nearly 30 actors, directors, writers, and designers work with more than 100
guest artists each season to create theatrical experiences that champion our core values of Community,
Challenge, Ensemble, and Genuine Connection.

The Strawdog Board of Directors is a group of individuals who share a passion for live theatre. We
believe that this art-form in is a vital part of healthy communities. We provide the means and guidance
for bringing it to the City of Chicago through the work of this Ensemble and Company. We identify
strongly with Strawdog’s core values as a lens through which we help make this art happen.

* Initial conversation with Board president to learn more about the organization and member
responsibilities
* One-on-one meeting with an active board member for additional perspective
* Attend two board meetings as an observer to learn first-hand how the board operates
* Confirm your desire to be considered for membership
* Board meets to discuss candidacy and, if moving forward, issues invitation to join

Strawdog Theatre Company is committed to ensemble acting and an immersive design approach, offering Chicago the premiere storefront theatre experience. We develop new work, re-imagine classic plays, explore new fusions of music and theatre, ask provocative questions and deliver the unexpected to our audience. We provide a home for our celebrated ensemble to work and play with the most sought after artists in Chicago theatre along with the best new talents in the city.
Description
The Strawdog Board of Directors is a group of individuals who share a passion for live theatre. We
believe that this art-form in is a vital part of healthy communities. We provide the means and guidance
for bringing it to the City of Chicago through the work of this Ensemble and Company. We identify
strongly with Strawdog’s core values as a lens through which we help make this art happen.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has always been a priority, but we have been slow in
fully realizing it in our Company. The current environment is providing us the space and
time to focus on this work. We have some recent success with an increase in Ensemble
diversity but can do more. While we weren’t the first theatre company to engage in this
work, we want to be at the front.
