General Description

Come celebrate Giving Tuesday with Dakota County and The Open Door Food Pantry! The Open Door, with immense support of the community, assists thousands of local individuals each month through a variety of programs designed to connect those in need with fresh, nutritious options. We are looking for volunteers to help distribute food at our food pantry.

Here is a brief description of what the evening will look like:

5:00-5:30-Welcome and Intro to The Open Door

5:30-7:30-Help shop with clients, weigh groceries and stock shelves

7:30-8:00--Light cleaning, thank you and group picture

5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with clients to help them select groceries
• Weigh and process client’s orders
• Help transport and load items to client’s vehicles

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 12 years old or older
• Must be able to lift 10 pounds comfortable
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Minimum Time Commitment

3 hours

Activity Level

Moderate - To fully participate may require leisurely walking over primarily even surfaces. There may be a limited number of steps, a minimal amount of uneven surfaces, and some standing for extended periods of time. Comfortable shoes recommended.
