Did you know the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department have a dedicated Urban Forestry Crew? Join us as we plant trees along some right of ways. No experience necessary! We will provide training on how to properly plant and mulch our trees.

Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will help dig holes, ensure the trees are planted properly and mulch them in.

Volunteer Impact:
Trees provide more than just aesthetics in our City, they provide us with oxygen and habitat for our wildlife in an urban environment.

Work Environment:
We will be walking between planting locations which will be throughout a neighborhood and park. Volunteers will be required to lift, kneel, bend, and dig. As we walk away from the park, there will not be immediate access to a restroom, but we are in an urban environment with them in driving distance.

Special Information:
We will provide tools, gloves, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first-aid kit. We will also provide training and oversight throughout the planting.

Volunteer Requirements:
This event is for those who are ages 18 and older since we will be working along a roadway. All volunteers must sign a liability waiver that will be sent out prior to the project.

Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email Rachel.VanNoordt@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
