ORGANIZATION: Caring Like Family Hospice

  • 68 people are interested

Through our Medicare-certified hospice agency, we care for our patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. Our goal in hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own place of residence.

We are currently in need of new volunteers to join our wonderful, supportive team! Our volunteers can help our team and patients in a number of areas. With patients at home or in assisted living facilities, our volunteers provide companionship, which might include conversation, reading, singing, or playing music. Volunteers might help facilitate a life review project, or provide a comforting presence for unresponsive patients. Needs vary by patient. Volunteers might also provide an empathetic ear for families and caregivers, or help with more practical tasks like errands, watering the lawn, or walking the dog.

Our agency can also use administrative volunteer help, either short-term or continual, to assist our dedicated staff in our busy Marina del Rey-based office. Duties might include answering phones, filing, and assisting with special projects. All are vital to our team, who all do their part to ensure that our hospice patients receive the best possible care.

Do you have two or more hours per week to help out? If so, please respond to this post, and our volunteer coordinator will send you more information and an application. Thank you for your interest!
