Description
VITA helps put hard-earned money back in the pockets of low-to-moderate income wage earners in the form of tax refunds and tax credits. And the free service saves taxpayers the expense of tax preparation services, which average about $273. Last year we saved taxpayers more than $2.3 million in fees.
A VITA Translation Volunteer will be responsible for assisting VITA clients who are Spanish speaking. They will help with checking clients in for their appointments, ensuring they fill out intake forms, and verifying they have all tax documents needed for their appointment. The Translator will then assist the Tax Preparer with explaining all of the procedures of the tax filing process to the client. The Translator works closely with the Site Coordinator to keep client flow steady throughout the site. No tax knowledge necessary!
These volunteers will NOT be at our 1910 Harrington Drive location, volunteers will be placed at one of 17 VITA sites across Lancaster County.
Minimum Requirements: You must successfully attend the Greeter Training provided through the VITA Program and pass a short ethics/standards of conduct test.
Hours: 4-12 hours per week-January through April-day, evening, and weekend shifts are available. We ask for a minimum of one, 4-hour shift per week, but you may do as many as you like!
