Crayfish Removal Event

Help the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains remove invasive red swamp crayfish from Topanga Creek! Crayfish pose a serious threat to the endangered and threatened species that call this creek home and we need your help to remove this pest from our impaired waterways!

Volunteers will aid RCD staff in removing, measuring, and recording data on invasive crayfish. The RCD will provide all necessary equipment but feel free to bring any personal supplies that might assist you in the removal process (i.e. nets, buckets, etc.)

Be sure to wear durable shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS/OPEN-TOED SHOES), clothes that can get dirty, and ample sunscreen. Bring a reusable water bottle and dress in layers, as California weather can be unpredictable!

PLEASE NOTE THE ADDRESS INDICATED ON THIS WEBSITE IS NOT WHERE WE WILL MEET ON THE MORNING OF THE EVENT! We will meet at the Topanga Bridge along Topanga Canyon Blvd. The bridge is located two miles north of where Pacific Coast Highway intersects Topanga Canyon Blvd. and two miles south of the RCD Office (located at 540 S Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290).
