They’ve work hard building their LEGO Mindstorms Robot and getting ready to complete missions related to this year’s City Shaper theme. Now it’s time to compete at a FIRST LEGO League Tournament.
Come be inspired by teams of students in grades 4 - 8.
Spend a Saturday or Sunday in November through February helping to officiate and run an FLL Tournament
We need volunteers in several roles at our tournaments:
Referees officiate robot performance matches, tabulate scores, and encourage teams in a fun, energy charged environment.
Emcees Act as tournament announcers providing team introductions and robot game play by play
Computer Support volunteers operate the scoring software entering the results of robot matches, as well generate reports and work with head officials to maintain the pace of the day. This role may include Friday set up.
Training as well as the opportunity to shadow an experienced referee is provided prior to your first volunteer assignment
Register for training at https://hightechkids.org/volunteer/training/
Tournaments are held at several venues (typically schools) around the Twin Cities from November through February. Volunteer for one or more tournament based on your interest and availability.

Mission Statement
High Tech Kids delivers fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events that inspire Minnesota kids in their formative years. We inspire kids to BUILD confidence, CREATE opportunities, and THRIVE in the 21st century.
Description
High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Minnesota FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Minnesota FIRST Tech Challenge each fall/winter. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.
With the help of more than 700 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.
High Tech Kids now serves over 7,500 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 67,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.
High Tech Kids’ programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community. These volunteers encourage kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.
