The November House Tour is the Historical Society of Princeton’s signature fall event. Guests on the House Tour explore six private homes in the Princeton community on a self-guided tour. Docents staff the beautiful homes on the Tour in two-hour shifts. Docents are an integral part of the event, making the House Tour possible by helping to organize the crowds and ensuring that each visitor has an enjoyable and informative experience. Training is provided to docents.

Using our historic sites and collections, we teach local and international visitors that history is relevant in daily life, and can be used to explore a shared connection among people; to celebrate a love of place; and to promote conversations on creating a better future.
Description
The Historical Society of Princeton (HSP), headquartered at Updike Farmstead in Princeton, is dedicated to bringing the remarkable history of Princeton to life for diverse audiences. The core mission of HSP is history education, provided via stewardship of a vast historical collection, relevant and thought-provoking exhibitions, exciting, hands-on public programs, and robust co-curricular support for schools.
The Historical Society of Princeton was founded in 1938, one of the earliest local history institutions in the area. Today, HSP serves as a hub for experiential education and stewardship of collections and places, preserving and sharing Princeton’s history with the broadest possible audiences. HSP reaches over 10,000 people in person and over 100,000 people virtually with its history education programs each year. Among its varied and vast collections is one of the most notable collections of Albert Einstein's personal belongings in the world.

- Docent shifts are two hours long.
- Docents are encouraged to attend the walk-through of the house before the event. Volunteer docents are welcome to view the other houses on the HSP House Tour before or after their shifts. Tickets are available to volunteers for $10, an 80% discount.
