Brave Step is seeking a manager and producer for its upcoming podcast. The podcast manager will be responsible for the administrative and technical direction of the podcast. He or she will manage, record and edit episodes, and ensure relevant guests and hosts are coordinated. We consider this person the behind-the-scenes magic maker.
The following is an illustrative and not exhaustive list of required or desired qualifications, and general responsibilities.
Professional Responsibilities
Guest Research and Scheduling
- Identification, outreach and scheduling for guests who have expertise, a compelling story and more that is relevant to the podcast goals.
- Research each guest thoroughly and provide notes to the hosts in advance.
- Secure podcast studio and technical needs in advance.
Production and Editing
- Oversee production of the podcast episodes.
- Contribute ideas for the show.
- Responsible for recording, editing and publication of each podcast episode.
Leadership
- Provides leadership and support to the team of podcast hosts.
- Works collaboratively with the team and Brave Step’s leadership on podcast conceptualization and production.
- Reporting on a timely basis.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate would have the following capabilities and qualities:
- Demonstrate a passion for mission and vision of Brave Step. Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s mission, purpose, programs, and more.
- Prior skills in audio production or podcasting or a strong desire to invest the time to learn.
- Demonstrate excellent research skills, a dream-big outlook on guests and strong written, oral communication and organization skills.
- Possess storytelling skills that can be transferred to podcast content writing and editing.
- Requires a global, creative problem solver that has excellent decision-making skills.
- Ability to accept and implement change.
- Attention to detail is a must as well as multi-tasking various tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship, internally and externally.
Compensation
Volunteer or internship position. No compensation available.
Estimated Time Commitment
While this is new venture for Brave Step, we do estimate the time commitment at 10-15 hours a month. To note, if a person is interested in the administrative tasks or solely the producer tasks, please apply and notate that interest.

Brave Step equips adult survivors, loved ones and the community with the skills and understanding to shape a strong, supportive community.
How do we do that? In a number of ways:
- Adult Survivor Care: Adult survivors deserve to lead their best life, one that is not defined by or limited by past abuse. To help survivors reclaim the life they deserve, Brave Step presents a multi-faceted healing model that includes individual counseling, group therapy, peer-led support groups, empowerment programs, and ways to find one’s voice.
- Care for Loved Ones: We believe that educating and supporting the loved ones of a survivor is a critical component to giving survivors the best possible chance to heal. We offer therapeutic interventions for loved ones and a supportive, understanding place to process their emotions.
- Community Education: Fostering brave public conversations about sexual abuse must be at the heart of what we do. It is our responsibility to inform the community on the impact of sexual abuse, preventative measures to take and how we can collectively fight this pervasive issue.
- Changemakers: By harnessing the passion and courage of survivors, loved ones and the community, Brave Step nurtures the skills, understanding and strength to become a changemaker on this pervasive issue. We curate, educate and activate through training curriculums, policy education, storytelling, survivor advocacy and more.
