The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program helps thousands of modest to low income households in Pierce County file their taxes for free! Support with tax preparation can make an enormous difference to an individual or family who may not know how to maximize their tax refunds and credits.
VITA has numerous sites throughout Pierce County, and we need volunteers to help with greeting taxpayers, preparing taxes, coordinating tax sites, reviewing tax returns for quality assurance, and interpreting for non-English speakers. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, project management, social work, human services, and administration. No prior experience necessary - Free training is provided!

Associated Ministries is a non-profit organization located in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, WA. We are an interfaith organization uniting communities of different faiths to work together toward lasting solutions to homelessness. We provide housing services to people experiencing homelessness, as well as support to modest and low income households as a form of homeless prevention. We strive to create an anti-racist equity-driven environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers who come through our doors.
