Catholic Charities' La Posada de Guadalupe men's shelter provides housing, meals, and support to homeless men, farmworkers, and day laborers in North County San Diego. Staff work hard every day to ensure residents are treated with the dignity they deserve, no matter who they are. A central element to La Posada's hospitality are shared meals, especially the communal gathering of dinner. As a volunteer kitchen assistant, you will help the chef and staff with the following to provide a dinner that truly welcomes the men home each night.
- Prepare and set out drinks
- Set up dinner dishes
- Count out trays
- Set out silverware and napkins
- Put bread in the oven
- Place dinner out to serve
- Help with sweeping and mopping
- Prepare dish tubs for washing
Volunteer kitchen assistants are needed one to two days per week, Monday through Friday, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
