Community Outreach Specialist (Intern)

Location

This is a remote position. The Community Outreach Specialist will serve primarily in Las Vegas community where programs support elementary schools and events held at community centers, libraries, coffee shops and other venues. While there is always so much to be involved with we are able to connect remotely to communicate for meetings and planning while working from home.

Purpose

The purpose of the Community Outreach Specialist is to support Reading In Motion in creating a full circle of support for the development of young students’ foundational reading skills throughout communities and schools.

Position Description

The Community Outreach Specialist works with Reading In Motion staff developing communications and helping to plan and execute events and educational programs. Responsibilities will include researching, writing, organizing, arranging facilities and catering, and promoting events to members and to the community. Duties will be project oriented and administrative including working with organizational staff to support communications, messaging, phone calls, and general assistance. Add other duties / responsibilities that apply. Other duties as assigned and may be subject to change

Every year, through our program and with the support of community members, local leaders, and volunteers thousands more are given the opportunity to reach beyond their imagination, learning literacy in fun, creative ways to reach their potential.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • Orientation or Training
  • The Length of Appointment: The Community Outreach Specialist serves minimally 1 days per week for three months. After three months, the Community Outreach Specialist may be reappointed.
  • Support: Training for this position will be provided. You will receive initial orientation for Reading In Motion as well as training on foundation reading skills instruction, Reading In Motion programming as well as on going support in your role.
