The Computer Technologies Program (CTP) is seeking Front Office Receptionist volunteers to assist at CTP’s front office and reception area. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in a non-profit/office setting, and join an enthusiastic and collaborative team based in Berkeley, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming phone calls (low volume), refer calls to appropriate CTP staff or other organizations, and screen visitors who wish to access the office.
  • Greet and direct visitors and clients who have appointments with CTP staff.
  • Assist with researching and contacting potential donors
  • Works with staff on other administrative tasks

This opportunity is ideal for anyone who is looking to expand their work experience, build their resume, and build a meaningful connection with the Berkeley community. Not only do you gain valuable administrative experience, but past volunteers have contributed to a variety of projects, including assisting with business and community outreach. During low activity days, you are welcome to work on homework and read.

CTP is open Monday through Friday from 9-5, and we can be flexible in creating a schedule that will work for you. We ask that volunteers make a three-month commitment at a minimum of six hours a week.

  • Ability to act friendly, professional and cordial at all times
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and speak in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Compassionate and patient with an appreciation of service to the disability community and community-at-large.
  • Available for a 3-month commitment

Description

The Computer Technologies Program (CTP) mission is to broaden employment opportunities for people with disabilities by providing training in Information Technologies, self-marketing strategies and advocacy in partnership with the business and rehabilitation communities. CTP was started in 1975 by a partnership of the CA State Dept. of Rehabilitation, IBM and CIL in Berkeley. We have a business advisory committee of 300+ Bay Area companies who serve as reviewers, mentors and internship supervisors. Our job placement rate is 75% for graduates who stay involved with employment services.
