Title
Community Education and Outreach Representative
Location
This is a remote position. The Community Education and Outreach Representative will work primarily in Las Vegas Elementary Schools but may also conduct literacy workshops and sessions at various community events around Las Vegas. The Community Education and Outreach Representative will also assist with preparations for such events and sessions while working from home or at coffee shops, libraries and/or event centers.
Purpose
The purpose of the Community Education and Outreach Representative is to support Reading In Motion in creating a full circle of support for the development of young students’ foundational reading skills. The Community Education and Outreach Representative will educate, inspire and motivate parents, families and community members through engaging methods, interactive hands on programming and arts integrated curriculum that aims to reach every learner, especially those whose environment and circumstances put them in greater need of support. It takes a village!
Responsibilities and Duties
- Partner with Regional Engagement Manager and other Community Education and Outreach Reps to plan and coordinate literacy events and workshops.
- Support preparations for events and workshops to include creating packets, scheduling sessions, preparing materials, etc.
- Conduct workshops utilizing Reading In Motion programming for Parents, Families, Students, Teachers and Community Members
- Conduct hands on literacy and/ or arts activities with parents and students at local community events.
- Travel to and from workshops and events
- Assist with Set up, clean up and implementation of workshops and events.
- Be an advocate and an ambassador for Reading In Motion and all students
- Other Duties as assigned
About you
- Qualified candidates will posses a strong desire and motivation to serve the community
- Interest in literacy development, teaching, early childhood education, arts and advocacy
- Willingness to learn Reading In Motion curriculum and programming
- Comfortable speaking in front of and interacting with groups of all sizes
- Happy to sing with students and parents and willing to play and have fun
- Prior experience working with young children aged 4-7 required
- You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from events
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Bilingual a plus

- The Length of Appointment: The Community Education and Outreach Representative serves minimally 1-2 days per week for three months. After three months, the Community Education and Outreach Representative may be reappointed.
- Support: Training for this position will be provided. You will receive initial orientation for Reading In Motion as well as training on foundation reading skills, Reading In Motion curriculum, methods and programming as well as ongoing support.
