We are seeking Visiting Volunteers for our VIsit-A-Bit program. Visit-A-Bit (VAB) is designed to directly address senior adult loneliness in the Greater St. Louis area. It’s a weekly socialization program (at least one hour a week but no more than two) that connects volunteers with seniors, who may be living alone or in a senior community. The program pairs them together based on location, interests, and hobbies and to develop meaningful relationships.

Listed below are some of the requirements of the program.

  • Call the Visit-A-Bit Manager with any issues, concerns or questions.
  • Visits take place at the senior's home (we pair based on your location).
  • Complete a visit report after visiting with your assigned senior.
  • Be a friend to your senior and refer to your training manual if you have questions.
  • Must be respectful, gentle, kind and non-judgmental.
  • Visit your senior weekly for at least one hour but no more than two hours.
  • In the event, you can't visit one week, replace the visit with a phone call.

Description

VNA is a non profit organization and a member of the United Way with a certified volunteer program. Visiting Nurse Association seeks to improve the quality of life for those patients with a life limiting illness for whom the goal is comfort rather than cure thru their hospice division. VNA also provides palliative care -Advanced Illness Management to patients with difficulty leaving home due to serious chronic illness. VNA also provides Care at home through private duty services-VNA CAre at Home.
