ORGANIZATION: Compassus Hospice and Pallative Care

  • 3 people are interested

Any pet owner will agree that the presence of a dog will warm the heart and inspire the spirit which is why Hospice Compassus is seeking friendly canines to join our volunteer team.

Volunteers, along with their furry friends, would be fostering meaningful connections with patients in theAtlanta area that could benefit from pet therapy. The ideal volunteer is patient, compassionate, and has a heart for the elderly and dying.

For the protection of our patients all pets MUST be certified through an approved pet therapy certifying organization, such as Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, AKC Therapy Dog Program and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. We can even help you get started with the process!

Description

At Compassus, we share a culture established around three core values: Compassion, Integrity and Excellence.

Hospice offers peace and comfort to patients and their families by reducing the stress, pain and other symptoms of a serious illness. Hospice is not just for the final days of life. it's about helping patients and their families live as well as they can when life expectancy is limited.

Palliative care helps people with a serious illness feel better - physically, emotionally and spiritually. It focuses on improving quality of life at any stage of illness. Patients can continue curative treatments, and some patients with chronic diseases may move in and out of palliative care as the need arises.

Patients receive treatment in facilities and in their community homes.
