Academic Coaching for Success (ACS) is a new teen academic program at Bayshore Christian Ministries. ACS provides a warm and welcoming environment, in which students get an option of individual one-on-one coaching, as well as an option of group tutoring in most academic subjects. Students will be able to meet volunteer coaches in-person or virtually through the use of Chrome Books.
-provide individual or group semester-long support -help assess students' strengths and needs -devise a personalized plan of action to ensure academic success -academically tutor & mentor students -academically assess students and help track academic progress -discuss with students factors affecting their well-being & barriers faced in distance learning -assist students with device/internet availability issues
This opportunity directly addresses the impacts of COVID-19. As volunteer coach, you would be working directly with students in East Palo Alto to meet academic needs and "gaps" created by the pandemic and distance learning.
The mission of Bayshore Christian Ministries is to equip east-of-Bayshore youth to grow spiritually, gain life skills and develop as leaders so that they have hope and a future.
Bayshore Christian Ministries (BCM) serves youth in the East of Bayshore community, meeting practical and spiritual needs through leadership training, spiritual development and life skills application. BCM programs continue to grow and effectively serve over 200 youth participants each year in small group settings with individualized attention. Our programs are open to any East of Bayshore youth regardless of disability, race, religion or ethnic origin.
