Brighten your nights this fall on a wondrous journey through the Japanese Garden at Maymont! The two-week-long event will include dramatic lighting displays in the Japanese Garden and activities on the Carriage House Lawn. Volunteers are needed nightly to support a safe and engaging environment for thousands of Richmonders. Tasks include: greeting guests, monitoring garden pathways, and supporting activities and programs. All positions are OUTDOORS so volunteers should dress warmly. Groups and family teams are welcome.

Description
Maymont was the 100-acre Victorian country estate of Major James H. and Sallie May Dooley. The Dooleys completed their opulent mansion in 1893 and spent the next three decades creating the gardens, landscapes and outbuildings you see here today. Upon Mrs. Dooley's death in 1925, Maymont was bequeathed to the City of Richmond . Attractions for visitors added over the years include the Nature Center, Native Virginia Wildlife Exhibits, Children's Farm and Carriage Collection. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the private non-profit Maymont Foundation.
