Docents serve as the hosts and hostesses of the Museum during hours of operation. Docents welcome patrons to the Museum, collect admission fees, and have visitors sign the guest book. They hand out a self-guided tour sheet or walk patrons through the museum, providing commentary on the collections. Docents open and close the Museum. This includes unlocking/locking doors, turning on/off lights, turning up/down thermostats, and lifting/lowering window blinds. Docents report any issues with the Museum facilities or collection to the Board of Directors. If patrons are interested in purchasing items from our small Museum Store, docents handle those transactions. Docents are invited to assist the Board in fundraising and publicity efforts but this is at the sole discretion of the volunteer.
