Midwest HeArt is a local non-profit organization dedicated to welcoming refugees through the universal language of art. Since, 2018 we have welcomed over 80 refugee families, gifted over 100 pieces of local art to our new neighbors and collaborated in over 5 events with community organizations.
As 2020 approaches we are gearing up to improve and implement programming to start in Spring, but we need your help! This volunteer based organization is seeking an event planning and fundraising assistant to aide the President of the Board of Directors.
Duties as assigned:
- Manage and expand on our contact/donor database
- Seek out innovative ways to reach potential donors: correspondences, calls, face-to-face
- Assist with donor communications, including receipts and thank you letters
- Assist with event logistics for January 2020 brunch fundraiser
Fundraising initiatives that would be worked on:
- Peer-to-Peer: For $50 or more support Midwest HeArt and in return you'll receive a 'We Welcome Immigrants' Ohio t-shirt, a free brunch admission and a Midwest HeArt sticker.
- Immigrant and Refugee Friendly Businesses: For $150 support Midwest HeArt's initiative by becoming an immigrant and refugee friendly business. In return, you'll receive a decal for your storefront, two free brunch admission tickets and social media recognition.
- Donation Boxes:You'll assist with locking down locations for a time period and coordinating with the President of the Board of Directors to pick-up donations from full donation boxes.
- Sponsors: You'll help assist with sending out correspondences to potential donors for the amount of $500 for the upcoming brunch. Only two or three donors needed.

Description
Midwest HeArt is designed through partnerships to welcome refugees and asylum seekers by:
- Hosting an annual art exhibit full of donated pieces from local artists to gift to refugee families
- Offering workshops to the community taught by local artists. Each individual that signs-up for the workshops automatically gives a free admission to a refugee. Midwest HeArt believes that art is the tool for therapy when undergoing traumas.
- Providing assistance in any way needed to our partner US Together to ensure their program is stable.
