Responsibilities
The American Red Cross of Greater PA seeks an organized, enthusiastic intern to assist with engaging and developing the Disaster Cycle Services workforce by working with volunteers to identify opportunities that will meet their interests, skills and help the region meet its readiness and capacity goals.
- Support the regional disaster program implementation and strategy
- Raise volunteer awareness of Red Cross Disaster Cycle Service opportunities through a variety of creative avenues and communication methods
- Connect disaster volunteers to training and exercises to ensure readiness for disaster events and to sustain volunteers' interest and participation
- Support the onboarding and training component of engagement
- Monitor volunteer positions, training and promotions
- Assist with recognition and appreciation of volunteers and their service
Time Commitment
12+ hours per week
Qualifications
- Successfully completed background check
- Enrolled in post-secondary education program
- Coursework towards a degree in Human Resources, Social Services, Non-Profit Management, or similar major
- Comfortable with all methods of communication with individuals and groups
- Willingness to learn, flexibility, enthusiasm, eagerness to work with diverse populations
- Ability to operate, or learn, A/V equipment
- Competence in Microsoft Suite
- Transportation and ability to work from the Red Cross office during business hours. Driver's License recommended.
The Internship is an unpaid developmental experience where candidates must be enrolled in a degree program at the time of the internship.
