The West End Museum is a nonprofit neighborhood museum located next to North Station in Downtown Boston. The museum has a small office staff of volunteers: Executive Director, Bookkeeper, Volunteer Coordinator, etc. and keeping on schedule, completing detailed tasks and data entry are very important to everything running smoothly. The Executive Assistant will collaborate weekly with the Executive Director and other office assistants on all the administrative aspects of running a nonprofit museum.
While the weekly hours are few, this position requires an ongoing and consistent presence on the administrative staff. It is best suited for someone who is planning to stay in the Boston area for at least a year.
Tasks:
-Prepare various written materials for the museum director
-Prepare spreadsheets and data visualization as required by the museum director
-Schedule meetings between the museum director and museum staff
-Manage museum and museum director's calendars
-Process membership applications
-Send out membership cards and membership renewal notices
Skills:
- Highly organized
-Able to meet Deadlines
-Able to work well both individually and on a team
- Able to organize an office for multi-use
-An interest in the history of The West End is a plus
-Able to use Microsoft Office and an understanding of spreadsheets
-Professional email and letter writing skills
-Office management skills
-Ability to streamline and simplify Google Drive

About the West End Museum:
We are a Boston neighborhood museum seeking volunteers interested in the history and culture of the City of Boston, its immigrant era, and urban renewal. The Museum is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston.
You can expect to find a casual workplace of friendly Volunteers and Staff who are welcoming and eager to engage with the public. A previous knowledge of the neighborhood is not required, but an appreciation of its historical significance is helpful.
The Museum is conveniently located close to the MBTA Science Park/West End Station and North Station. Bowdoin Station is about a 10-minute walk.
