ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana

Future Science and Technology Leaders
You can help girls and young women discover the excitement of science and technology.

Each December, Girl Scouts host a FIRST Lego League robotics tournament for girls and boys. This year's tournament is Sunday, December 8th from 8 AM to 4 PM at the Girl Scout Friendship Center in Country Club Hills.

We seek a tournament coordinator to organize all the pre-tournament duties. Responsibilities include:

  • scheduling the day and assigning volunteer roles: referees, judges, concessions and robot course setters
  • overseeing setup prior to the tournament
  • remaining present and in charge throughout the tournament to answer questions, provide guidance, trouble shoot, etc.
  • overseeing breakdown and clean up after the tournament
  • coordinating pick up and drop off of the robotic course tables
  • serving as emcee at the tournament--welcoming teams, handing out awards

Volunteers who choose this role will gain event planning experience, will polish their professional communication skills and will have a lot of fun meeting LEGO robotic teams and fans!
