Each December, Girl Scouts host a FIRST Lego League robotics tournament for girls and boys. This year's tournament is Sunday, December 8th from 8 AM to 4 PM at the Girl Scout Friendship Center in Country Club Hills.
We seek a tournament coordinator to organize all the pre-tournament duties. Responsibilities include:
- scheduling the day and assigning volunteer roles: referees, judges, concessions and robot course setters
- overseeing setup prior to the tournament
- remaining present and in charge throughout the tournament to answer questions, provide guidance, trouble shoot, etc.
- overseeing breakdown and clean up after the tournament
- coordinating pick up and drop off of the robotic course tables
- serving as emcee at the tournament--welcoming teams, handing out awards
Volunteers who choose this role will gain event planning experience, will polish their professional communication skills and will have a lot of fun meeting LEGO robotic teams and fans!
