Native Planting and Mulching, Neighborhood Event

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: City of Beaverton Neighborhood Program

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Join us in a native planting and mulching event at the Hamilton Heights Water Quality Facility in the Neighbors Southwest neighborhood! This planting will protect precious water resources by removing pollutants from stormwater runoff before it enters local streams and the Tualatin River.

BONUS, LUNCH!
Afterwards, we’ll warm up with hearty bowls of soup! This is a great opportunity to connect with your neighbors and learn how to get involved in the Neighbors Southwest neighborhood.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:
-Dress appropriately for the weather and muddy conditions. Closed toe shoes required. Wear muck boots if you have them.
-Reusable container full of water/warm beverage.
-Signed waiver. We’ll have hard copies on site the day-of the event as well. Youth under 18 must have parent's co-signature on waiver.

MEETING LOCATION:
The address provided is a residence near our worksite. We’ll meet at the end of the cul-de-sac of SW Chukar Ter, just south of SW Scholls Ferry Rd. Look for the tents to check-in for your shift and get supplies. We will provide workgloves and tools.

PARKING:
Carpooling recommended due to limited streetside parking availability. Closest Trimet Stop: #8618 or #11521, SW Scholls Ferry and Murray (3/4 mile from site). Bus #62: Murray Blvd to Washington Square.

This project is in partnership with the City of Beaverton and Neighbors Southwest neighborhood association committee.

Mission Statement

To promote public involvement in City government and sponsor neighborhood events/activities. We build partnerships between the city and our community by developing a strong core of volunteers to promote vibrant neighborhoods.

Description

The Neighborhood Program was established by the City of Beaverton in 1987, in order to preserve and enhance Beaverton by encouraging and supporting involvement of all citizens in local government and community activities. The program works by:

  • Educating citizens regarding the process of public participation related to land use, transportation, livability, and other issues
  • Promoting City and neighborhood identity
  • Providing better channels of communication and dissemination of accurate information between City government and citizens
  • Providing a forum by which citizens may engage in their choice of activities such as long-range planning, public safety, cultural opportunities, social functions, and general livability projects

Currently, the City of Beaverton has 11 recognized Neighborhood Association Committees (NACs). Participation in a NAC is open to anyone who lives, works, owns a business, or represents an institution or nonprofit organization within the boundaries of the NAC.
