Saturday Academy Mailing Help

Position Summary: Administrative Volunteers will aid in office tasks at Saturday Academy’s main office on the University of Portland’s campus. This volunteer work is held during work day hours, however special volunteer days may be hosted on weekends or after normal working hours. If you are passionate about helping youth succeed, and are eager to gain and practice your workplace skills, please join Saturday Academy as an office volunteer!

Responsibilities:

  • Stuffing Envelopes
  • Organizing Mail
  • Sorting and preparing to mail out class catalogs

Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented
  • Positive attitude and willing to take initiative
  • Reliable
  • Effective listening skills
Requirements:
  • Must be willing to commit to a consistent shift schedule (1 shift bi-weekly is ideal)
  • Administrative volunteers can only serve at our University of Portland offices, please keep this in mind when considering this volunteer opportunity.

Saturday Academy strives to engage all motivated young people, including those from under-represented communities, in hands-on, in-depth learning by connecting them to community experts as educators and mentors.

Description

The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
