As of October 2020, the Gallery is currently open at its regular hours. We ask that our volunteers wear masks, as do our visitors and staff members, while on duty. We have cleaning procedures and limits on admission for the public, as well as a barrier to the public between the docent desk and the surroundings.
Gallery volunteers are our first contact with visitors, and they offer greetings, answer basic questions, process gift shop sales, and complete small administrative projects. They are welcome to bring books, crafts, etc., to entertain themselves, and refreshments are OK, too. We oftentimes have volunteer teas and tours to inform them about new exhibits, and to socialize together. We are open daily (except Mondays), and we have two shifts that volunteers sign up for: 11:30-2:30 PM, 2:30-5 PM. Often times volunteers chat with visitors, artists, and learn more about the Davis community. We do a short training, and staff are always available to help.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.

Orientation or Training
We prefer that volunteers commit for a minimum of 6 months, 1-2 x a month. We do need event volunteers as well twice a year (Sept. and May). We need people to stay for the whole 2.5 hour shift.
Volunteers need to be comfortable communicating with the public in a friendly manner, and use of basic math skills for writing receipts, etc.
