Want to make a difference in the life of a refugee?
We are currently seeking a mentor with experience in web development (JavaScript) to mentor a young adult refugee on their pathway to a career in web design.
RefugeeOne's teen and young adult mentoring program matches refugee youth ages 15-24 with adult mentors who provide guidance and support during critical years. Mentors meet with their teen mentee twice per month for one year to develop a trusting friendship and serve as a positive role model. Mentors help teens and young adults accomplish self-determined goals and connect to the resources they need to graduate high school and start on a successful path to college, vocational training, or career.
RefugeeOne has a national reputation for its success in assisting refugees fleeing war and persecution as they build new lives. With the help of 1000 volunteers, RefugeeOne walks alongside refugees as they take their first steps on the road to self-reliance: we greet new arrivals at O’Hare Airport, furnish their homes, help them learn English, and connect them to their first jobs. However, we recognize that job skills aren’t the only component to success in the United States, which is why we provide mental health care, after-school programming, and community-building services as well. Our ultimate goal is to help refugee families become self-reliant in as little as 6-12 months.
