Description of Activities

CKAR Ambassadors are community members who wish to strengthen their communities by conducting outreach. The Ambassadors contribute to CKAR's mission of bringing together the diverse community of Greater Riverdale in order to promote our welfare and interests. Ambassadors will serve as links between CKAR and the community. Duties may include: planning or supporting community events and cultural exchanges (such as cultural dish day), informing residents about upcoming events and programs in the area, welcoming residents to the Sarvis Café, and relaying the desires of the community in order to help improve programs being offered by CKAR. As part of this work, Ambassadors may be asked to help review or translate CKAR materials, in order to promote community involvement.

Impact of CKAR Ambassadors

CKAR Ambassadors ensure that the community's diverse perspectives are being included in programming. The Ambassadors strengthen the Greater Riverdale community, by facilitating dialogue among diverse people and improving community unity. Residents will be better able to use available resources and will be better informed about events that impact their lives. The work of the Ambassadors ensures that CKAR remains an organization that is both run by and for the community.

Benefits

CKAR Ambassadors will have the chance to learn from their neighbors and develop new skills and relationships. Ambassadors will have the satisfaction of making sure that their neighborhood's voice is being represented, and may have the opportunity to join a Volunteer Advisory Committee, which will develop new initiatives and support programming at the Sarvis Empowerment Café.
