Description:
We’re looking for volunteers to assist in our education program at Sunshine House. This is a great opportunity for anyone, especially those who have an interest in education. You’ll be assisting our Education Coordinator in her classes a few times a week and working with a small group of students, particularly focused on job and life skills. Patience, dedication, and thoughtfulness will be perfect traits of our ideal teacher assistant volunteer.

Your time and attention will be going to helping our clients stay a part of the community and become more independent. The skills students are learning will be instrumental in providing employment, which is such an important component to well-being. Our clients learn all sorts of skills, such as problem-solving, decision-making, time management, reliability, and money management. A few students are starting a store, which will be a great place for you to get involved in a real world project!

Time commitment: 2-3 hours shifts, check with instructor, schedule changes periodically

  • Helping run the store

Sunshine House Day Services offers a wide range of educational and recreational programming to adults of all abilities in Door and Kewaunee Counties.

We provide Day Services where clients' strengths, needs and desires are identified, with programming and activities designed to both allow for fun and recreation, as well as develop skills in the needed areas.

The Sunflower Cottage offers individualized programs for people living with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, stroke, and other age related challenge. Our Life Enrichment Program offers therapeutic activities and socialization in a safe, structured, family-like environment.

We also provide transportation services, job training and education, mailing services, shredding services, and host community events regularly.
