We are looking for volunteers to join our Resource Development Committee. This committee will assist the preschool’s Fund Development Coordinator with planning, preparing, and promoting our annual fundraisers and special activities. Meetings with the Fund Development Coordinator is once a month, but date and time can be flexible.

Prospect Enrichment Preschool is a non-profit program that provides high quality early childhood education for children and support services for families experiencing housing insecurities or financial hardships. Prospect offers its program to every family, regardless of their ability to pay full tuition costs. Our program provides scholarships to 90-95% of our children so that they may attend a 2-year educational program designed to help them acquire the skills and confidence needed to enter kindergarten and become a life long learner. The continued ability to offer scholarships is only possible through the generosity and financial support of our donors.

If you would like to help us achieve our mission of providing services at low to no cost for underserved families and children in the Seattle community we would love to hear from you.

Mission Statement

Established in 1964, Prospect Enrichment Preschool welcomes all children and families into our diverse setting without discrimination and regardless of ability to pay. Our goal is for all children to enter kindergarten with the skills and confidence to be successful lifelong learners.

Description

It all started when...

Prospect Enrichment Preschool was founded in 1964 by Prospect Congregational Church and the Seattle Public Schools as a non-sectarian program to provide a multi-ethnic preschool education for children from low income families.
Children from age three to five are given the opportunity for a two year educational preschool program. The school is located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Each year scholarships are provided for 90-95% of the children enrolled in the preschool.

In 1983, the preschool became a non-profit 501(C)(3) tax deductible corporation. In 1999 the preschool was recognized as a Washington State ECEAP (Early Childhood Education Assistance Program). Funding by private, public and faith based support sustains the mission of the preschool.

Our Philosophy

Prospect Enrichment Preschool is designed to help each child acquire the skills and confidence that will promote their optimal development. The preschool is based upon the educational philosophy of respect for the individual child, their ability to grow and develop inner controls, their ability to think and play creatively and their ability to discover and use their own resources.
