ORGANIZATION: The San Diego River Park Foundation

The San Diego River Garden is in Mission Valley right at the edge of the River. This garden showcases native varietals and low water use plants. It is sure to inspire with showy colors, fragrant blooms, and bird and butterfly attractors!

Join us for a San Diego River Garden Work Party on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 9am-11am as we care for this wonderful native plant garden! Your work will help to keep this special place beautiful for visitors and maintain native habitats for birds, insects, and lizards.

Activities Include:

  • Weeding
  • Watering
  • Pruning
  • Trail Maintenance
  • Other light gardening projects



Details:

  • All ages welcome.
  • All tools provided.
  • No experience necessary.
  • Dress in clothes that can get a little dirty.
  • Closed toe shoes required.
  • Bring plenty of water and wear sun protection.
  • Community service hours can be verified.
  • Please note that there are no restrooms on site.

The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering stewardship and appreciation of the region’s namesake waterway. In order to protect and enhance the San Diego River as a place for recreation, habitat, and nature discovery, we are dedicated to engaging people to be stewards of the River and working towards the vision of a 52 mile, river-long system of parks, open spaces, and community places.

Description

We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
