Valley Village is seeking groups and organizations that want to build long-term volunteer commitments to "adopt" our group homes. The Adopt a House program is a great way to give back to your community and people with developmental and intellectual challenges. You and your group can help celebrate special occasions with treats and decorations, enjoy picnics in the park with Valley Village residents, and engage in other fun activities. We recommend beginning with a local park outing to begin your volunteer experience. Volunteers who commit to long-term engagement in the Adopt a House program with residents must complete a background check, which Valley Village conducts and covers.
Valley Village’s residents enjoy spending time with volunteers who regularly visit throughout the year to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or to engage in games or other activities. Volunteers and residents build lasting relationships and enjoy their time together. While many residents have family members who visit them regularly, some have lost their family, or their relatives live far away. They look forward to time with people who care about them.
Valley Village’s Residential Program provides 24-hour residential care for adults with developmental disabilities in the San Fernando Valley. The 18 residences provide family-style, community-based housing where clients live with care providers. The Valley Village Residential Program functions continuously throughout the year.
