At our annual Tree Lot, we sell several different types of trees and wreaths. There is also a holiday boutique where customers can purchase gifts or decorations for their home. This event requires volunteers to be outside during winter conditions and also requires some heavy lifting. We need over 300 volunteers throughout the time the lot is open.

For each shift we need the following volunteers:
* Tree Hauler/Helper - Assist customers with tree selection, move trees to cutting station, help load trees onto or into cars, take family photos, etc. Tree haulers/helpers are also responsible for general lot and trailer clean up. Must have great customer service skills.

* Strong Arms - Assist customers with tree selection, use chainsaw to give the tree trunk a fresh cut, lift and tie trees onto cars, and restock inventory of trees and wreaths. Must have great customer service skills.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments is to help children who are blind or visually impaired reach their full potential through family-centered, specialized services and community support.

Description

In 1951, a group of Delta Gamma alumni from Washington University started a local organization to serve the needs of young children with visual impairments and blindness. The founders of the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments set forth on a mission to provide educational services for children in the earliest years, prior to the start of school, with an emphasis on guidance and training for their parents.

The core service offered consists of home-based educational services for infants and toddlers, birth to three years, who are blind or visually impaired and their parents/caregivers. The scope of services has expanded to include occupational, physical and speech therapy services, as well as a wide range of individual and group support services for families with children of all ages, through high school graduation.

The center is the only organization in the metropolitan area which addresses the early intervention and support needs of families and children with vision loss. In 2006, the center received the "Spirit of Children" award from the American Society of Pediatrics. Presented "for outstanding efforts to improve the welfare of all children in the St. Louis metropolitan area," the award reflects the organization’s commitment to excellence.

The center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Governed by a community - based board of directors, the center is a well established and respected organization in the community.
