Purpose: The purpose of this role is to assist the Office of Volunteer Engagement (OVE) staff in administering the Volunteers In Action (VIA) platform and providing customer service to the LLS chapter staff.
Position Tasks: The tasks performed in this role will help to ensure that staff volunteer needs are being fulfilled and that LLS Staff entering the VIA system are moving through the process in a timeline manner through answering emails in the OVE mailbox. Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Work with the volunteer manager to ensure that chapter questions are being answered
- Regular monitoring of the OVE mailbox for incoming questions regarding the Volunteers in Action Platform
- Check on status of background checks for volunteer roles requiring one and provide updates to appropriate chapter staff
- Monitor the VIA platform at least 2-3 times a week to ensure that volunteer applicants are moving through the various intake steps
- Contact LLS staff when necessary to help guide them through steps they must complete on the platform
Desired Skills
Volunteer should possess the following skills/qualifications:
- An interest in the field of volunteer engagement and/or human resources
- Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite
- Attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
Location: National Office, Rye Brook NY
Time Commitment
12 to 15 hours a week with a six month minimum commitment(flexible).
Shift Times
Flexible schedule based on mutually agreed upon times. Work must be completed during business hours 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday.
Background check required: Yes
Training
LLS will provide the volunteer with an orientation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society including an overview of the volunteer program and introduction to the VIA platform.
