City of Hope Community Practice Site Greeter & Patient Experience Volunteer

Reports to: Area Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager and Volunteer Services Director/Coordinator

Position Goals: Volunteer will assist staff in providing essential customer service to patients and caregivers. Volunteer will provide clerical support as well as assist patients and visitors in navigating the City of Hope campus/site.

Basic Skills/Training:
-Attend general volunteer orientation and receive departmental training
-Age specific/diversity competencies
-Excellent customer service skills/wayfinding
-Excellent understanding of volunteer and medical center/site policies and procedures
-Knowledge of the facility/campus
-Wheelchair competency
-Annual health screening
-Annual updates of policies and procedures
-Ability to prioritize tasks
-Excellent understanding of HIPAA/Confidentiality/Corporate Compliance
-Infectious Disease Control and transmission overview

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Greet patients and visitors
-Escort patients and visitors to various departments of medical center/site
-Assist with computer information, if needed
-Restock resource materials located throughout the medical center/site
-Provide clerical assistance, as needed
-Answer telephone, take messages and relay information
-Keep center clean and organized
-Assist with educational events, support groups and special projects, as needed

Physical Demands:
-Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time
-Ability to push wheelchair
-Ability to lift at least 25 pounds

2 Shifts

  • 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • 01:00 PM to 05:00 PM
