Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving morning event here in Tallahassee that will attract over 5000 seasoned runners and other exercise enthusiasts to the Southwood community to do what they love to do every day, but with the added incentive of raising money for community agencies, such as our own Kearney Center.
As an expression of thanks for their financial support of our work with Tallahassee’s homeless population, the Kearney Center is determined to lend a hand to this community-wide event (actually 30-40 pairs of helping hands) in the form of volunteers that will play various important support roles toward making this year’s Turkey Trot even more of a success than in years past.
These volunteer roles include but are not limited to:
- parking before the race
- course direction to runners along the course
- water stops along the course
- timing on the course
- food distribution post race
- clean up post race.
The time commitment is from 7am to approximately 11am (with many volunteers finished by 10:30). T-shirts will be given to each volunteer to wear during the morning and to keep as a keepsake.
This is a truly fun event for everyone and for all levels of participation. SO, PLEASE SIGN UP TODAY WITH ME THROUGH VOLUNTEERMATCH! I will inform the race organizers, and days before the event, you will be notified about your special role, as well as where and what time to report to your station.
If you have any questions, please contact Kearney Center’s Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Polzer, at volunteer@cestlh.org.
Thank you in advance. See you at the races!!!
