As a Grant Writing and Partnerships Intern you will have the opportunity to: gain experience in funder prospecting and communication; learn how a nonprofit operates; make a difference in the lives of the community we serve; and gain relevant experience for a career in the nonprofit sector or professional communications field.
The Grant Writing and Partnerships Intern will work closely with WPO’s fundraising staff and board. Primary responsibilities of the Grant Writing and Partnerships Intern include:
- Research new private and public funding prospects for Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra and assess mission fit of prospects;
- Assist with the creation and preparation of communication materials;
- Draft Letters of Inquiry to potential funders and prepare materials for proposal submissions; and
- Record all foundation relations/grant writing information and activities.
- Research and reach out to local businesses and corporations for potential sponsorship opportunities:
- concert sponsorship
- program book advertisements
- sponsoring a section leader, etc.
- Seek out opportunities for WPO to be more involved with the local commerce community

The Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to performing baroque, classical, romantic and contemproary music of the standard repertory, as well as light popular and jazz pieces. It is dedicated to meeting the cultural, educational and social needs of the citizens of the greater Waltham area.
Description
Thw Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra is a community group of volunteer musicians drawing from the Metrowest area of Boston. The group rehearses 1/wk and performs 3 regular concerts, 2 pops and 1 jazz concert each year.
