Volunteer with NSEA and City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation to restore salmon habitat along Connelly Creek. All are invited to plant native trees and shrubs and remove invasive vegetation beside their neighbors in the heart of the Happy Valley neighborhood. Catch a free shuttle at 1801 32nd St. in Bellingham or park along McKenzie Avenue, west of the park. Look for the blue NSEA and green COB tents to sign in!

We’ll bring the tools and gloves - all you have to do is wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Snacks courtesy of The Bagelry and the Community Food Co-Op. Coffee provided thanks to NSEA’s official coffee sponsor, Tony’s Coffee.

About Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association

Location:

3057 E Bakerview Rd., Bellingham, WA 98226, US

Mission Statement

NSEA educates, inspires, and engages the community to take action to keep wild salmon here for future generations.

Description

NSEA works with Whatcom County landowners to improve habitat for salmon, steelhead, cutthroat trout, and native char that has been degraded by past land use practices. NSEA implements 30 new stream restoration projects throughout Whatcom County every year, and also maintains and monitors previously planted restoration sites. NSEA projects provide excellent opportunties for community outreach and public education through direct participation of landowners in salmon habitat restoration. NSEA's school and community education programs provide opportunities for community members to move from awareness to knowledge to action in their own watersheds as neighbors learn the basics of salmon and stream ecology, and environmental stewardship.
