About Children's Discovery Academy

Location:

PO Box 692, Alma, MI 48801, US

Mission Statement

Mission: to provide high quality, affordable childcare, while fostering a positive community relationship. Vision: a community enriched with empowered parents and quality childcare.

Description

What is Children's Discovery Academy?

We are a new board of directors working to open a nonprofit childcare center. We operate primarily in Alma, MI. However, we are searching for building locations in all of Gratiot County, and serve the population of Gratiot County.

Gratiot County doesn't have enough licensed childcare to support the 5,184 children aged 0-13 years-old potentially needing childcare. When school is not in session (before and after school, half days, school breaks, snow days and delays, etc), 88% of Gratiot County's population aged 0-13 years do not have access to childcare. This creates a major problem for parents trying to obtain or maintain employment or go to school. This also presents a major problem for employers of Gratiot County trying to hire dependable employees.

Our current activities include community outreach and relationship building, fundraising, and finding a location for a childcare center.
