3. How does this project improve the health and well-being of the San Diego community? - This event brings more than 300 people together to help raise the much needed funds for our 6 facilities. Our Clubs offer a safe place for after school care and to teach members to respect themselves, others and their surroundings (be kind, pick up trash, report anybody being mean to others, etc.) We provide educational activities to keep their brain stimulated (tech center, Career Launch, Junior Authors, STEM) All of these activities help provide the tools children need for High School and beyond. This project helps improve the well-being of San Diego by raising funds to keep costs low so no child is denied a membership for a safe place.
4. What is required of volunteers? - Volunteers are asked to assist as needed with duties like: Morning Shift - unloading auction items, set out programs, center pieces, etc. Evening Shift: assisting with registration, checking individuals in and gathering bid stickers, standing by high $$ items so item is not stolen, during the Live Auction, assisting with spotting for the Auctioneer and lastly, check out of items.

Description
Since 1961, the goal of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County has been to provide a safe haven for children 6-18 every day after school and during the summer months. Our five facilities in the communities of Lakeside, El Cajon, La Mesa, and Santee are fully staffed and equipped to provide nearly 2,500 children with a safe, active and fun place to stay, play and learn until it’s time to go home. No child is denied access to the Clubs due to the inability to pay the dues, and scholarships are offered to families in need of financial assistance. In order to keep our membership dues low, we need the support of our community and beyond.
