Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Chattahoochee Valley is an opportunity for a volunteer to mentor a youth in our community. The volunteer will be able to expose the child to things they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience, such as a trip to the museum or a walk along the Riverwalk. The Community-based mentoring program involves spending 8 hours a month with a youth.
We also have a Site-based mentoring program for volunteers that involves matching a volunteer with a child at either a local school, afterschool program, or youth detention center (YDC). For the school sites and afterschool program sites, the mentor will visit the site of the youth and mentor them 1 day a week for 1 hour. The mentor will visit the youth detention center 1-2 times a month, depending on the youth's schedule. Our Site-based program involves spending 4 hours a month with a youth.
We have children on our waitlist who are waiting for positive role model. Please consider being that Big Brother or Big Sister to positively impact a child's life.
Due to COVID-19, we are currently using only virtual means to process all participants into our program. Also during this time, the Big and Little will only see eachother through virtual means such as Zoom, Facetime, Google Duo, etc, until it is safe to visit in person. If you have any questions about our current temporary procedures, please call or email us and we will be more than happy to give you more information.

To create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is the oldest mentoring program around with over 110 years of service with approximately 300 agencies nationally and internationally. We provide free one-to-one mentoring for children in the community. We match children with a volunteer also known as a Big Brother or a Big Sister based on the gender of the child. We ask that our Big Brothers and Big Sisters spend at least 8 hours a month with the Little. We encourage the Bigs to incorporate the Little’s hobbies as well as their own into fun inexpensive activities.
