You will have the opportunity to serve our nation's heroes by being the warm, smiling face that greets Veterans and those accompanying them to the Emergency Department at the Minneapolis VA.
Emergency Department First Impression volunteers provide Veterans checked into the ED with water, coffee, juice, a warm blanket, pillows and magazines. Most importantly, volunteers visit with the Veteran and their family providing comfort and support.
Current openings for Emergency Department volunteers are:
Monday through Sunday
9:00am-1:00pm
1:00pm-5:00pm
5:00pm-9:00pm
With current OSHA and VA safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all Volunteers are required to wear a medical face mask. VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.
