Mentors will meet with our residents in planned group activities (Bible Studies, Church and/or community dinners). After getting to know some of our residents, a mentor can be matched with a participant. The mentor may spend time with the participant at our facility or on outings selected by the mentor and participant. The mentor is encouraged to share with the participant information about his or her own life path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling. A mentor may help with exploring careers, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources. The mentor role may change as the needs of the participant change. The goal is to provide our participants with experiences that encourage motivation and growth toward transformation from the old lifestyle into a new prosocial lifestyle.
