Harvest Fruit to make a difference in your community - San Juan Bautista Apple Orchard
ORGANIZATION: Village Harvest
Please visit the new page to apply.
Village Harvest volunteers pick abundant fruit from orchards and home gardens to provide healthy food for people in need, and we have fun doing it!
This event is a harvest of apple trees at a beautiful orchard in San Juan Bautista. These trees are low and easy to pick.
The fruit will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank to help thousands of people: families, children and seniors who need healthy food. Volunteers will be able to taste right off the tree and take home delicious fruit seconds to enjoy later.
This is a fun, family friendly outdoor event with light exercise; perfect for adults, teens, and children (minimum age 7 and up with their parent, age 14 otherwise). The exact location of the harvest and other details will be emailed a few days prior to the event.
Village Harvest organizes 15 to 20 harvests every month in locations in the South Bay and Peninsula; find our full schedule and sign up through https://www.villageharvest.org .

Mission Statement
Sharing our gardens and talents to strengthen our community: Village Harvest brings together neighbors and community organizations to provide food for people in need, promote sustainable use of urban resources, and preserve our agricultural heritage and skills.
Description
Village Harvest is a volunteer organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that harvests fruit from homes and small orchards for local food agencies to assist people in need. We also provide education on fruit tree care, harvesting, and food preservation.
Since our founding in 2001 volunteers have picked and donated more than 4 million pounds to assist hundreds of thousands. Instead of going to waste abundant fruit becomes healthy food, and our volunteer harvests provide important life experiences for children and families, assistance for seniors, and community connection for a greater good.
