Become a Friendly Visitor in Middletown and Town of Wallkill and surrounding areas.
Reservations are required for this training.
This 3 hour training will fully prepare you to be a Friendly Visitor Volunteer in your community.
One or two hours a week can make an incredible difference for someone in your neighborhood who is isolated. You can provide any one of the following services to help a frail neighbor remain independent at home and on your schedule. Call 845-564-8936 or email pblumenau@jfsorange.org.
- Visit an older neighbor once a week for about an one hour
- Transportation to medical and other important appointments- use your own car
- Grocery shop
- Reassuring telephone calls a few times a week
- We supply volunteer insurance and a background check
- We will fully train you in one 3 hour session
- Dedicated coordinator support at all times

Description
Our services include our Friendly Visitor Program which connects home-bound seniors and medically challenged adults with volunteers who provide transportation to and from medical care, grocery shopping assistance, and companionship visits; case management to connect older adults and those medially fragile with available community supports, emergency assistance including a bilingual outreach coordinator for food stamps, service coordination and social programs for intellectually challenged adults, social programs for families with children with special needs, a therapeutic summer camp, and counseling on a sliding scale.
