50/50 Leadership

Young men who grew up in foster care rarely have anyone they can turn to for support and guidance. When they age out of the system they are left to navigate the world without skills, knowledge or guidance that most of us have, and take for granted. The adversities they have faced vary from being homeless, incarcerated, single parents, ex-addicts, and more.

For some, their adversity has made them stronger.

50/50 Leadership offers a series of financial literacy classes that provides a basic set of financial skills for managing their money. Upon completion, we offer them the opportunity to have a mentor for a year to help further their ability to stay on track managing their money and to reach their desired goals.
If you are at least 30 years old and have confidence in your ability to manage your own finances, you can be the person that provides the caring and guidance they need, and want.

Mission Statement

50/50 Leadership is committed to Empowering, Educating, and Inspiring women from all walks of life to become Leaders in their careers and communities. Make a difference.

Description

Established in 2004, we provide financial literacy programs to young women who have grown up in foster care, been incarcerated, been unhoused, and/or survived gender-based violence. In the past, we led leadership training programs and honored women who are making a difference around the world.

We feel that every girl and woman should have the opportunity to realize their leadership potential. Whether they are a leader in their home, at work, school or in the community.

We are women and men from all walks of life who agree that leadership should reflect the gender of the population: women make up more than half of the U.S. population and should be equally included in boardrooms, elected offices, academia, and all public and private enterprises and endeavors.
