ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Central & Southern Ohio

Help the Red Cross be the best part of someone’s worst day!

Learn the in’s and out’s of the American Red Cross while developing grant writing and communication skills! This important volunteer will assist the staff grant specialist by helping with research and pulling together information for grants, that help fund important programs at the Red Cross. These programs allow the Red Cross to help people who need it the most in meaningful ways by helping to prevent and alleviate human suffering.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Researching prospective grant-makers, including charitable giving history, Form 990s and grant guidelines
  • Writing grant proposals
  • Writing final reports and preparing stewardship materials
  • Compiling internal data on Red Cross service delivery
  • Working in excel and creating data visualization
  • Compile and archive completed grants per grant management protocol and audit compliance
  • Create and maintain grant calendar to track proposal and report deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan, organize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and organize multiple functions and activities
  • Work with extremely tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to effectively maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be detail-oriented

Training is provided at no cost. The time commitment is flexible and based upon grant needs in the area.
