The Portland Revels a non-profit arts and culture organization producing the Christmas Revels, a seasonal celebration of the winter solstice, and other participatory events. We rely on the help of hundreds of volunteers throughout the year. For our Christmas Revels performance we are looking for volunteers to help greet our audiences, staff the gift shop, sell raffle tickets, provide logistical and physical support and more. All of our volunteers are able to see the show at our dress rehearsal Thursday, Dec. 12 and there may be other opportunities to see the show if not sold out.

The Christmas Revels performance setting and music changes from year to year. This year's show takes place in Haddon Hall in England, derelict for 200 years. This year’s performance transports us back to an imaginary day when the current Duke (circa the 1920s), his wife and his children enter the castle after two centuries of presumed emptiness, expecting to demolish it, only to find it inhabited by the spirits of all those who have ever celebrated the winter solstice within its walls.

Description
Since 1994, Portland Revels has celebrated the seasonal cycle of the year through song, dance, story, and ritual, creating community across generations and cultures. The Revels develops and produces multiple community building music, song and dance events throughout the year including 3 seasonal productions: the Christmas Revels, Children’s Revels and May Revels. There are several unique hallmarks of our activities, events and shows: we provide intergenerational opportunities for music-making; we utilize professional talent and a gifted volunteer chorus in our flagship shows; performances focus on the music and traditions of a particular culture and historical period; and we provide opportunities for audience and community participation.
