Volunteer Tax Preparers and Greeters Needed
Volunteer tax preparer completes the return on-line.

You can really make a difference in someone's life. The time commitment is 3 - 4 hours per week. It is very easy to find an opportunity that fits your schedule because the sites have varying hours of operation, including week end or week night/day for only 10 weeks from the end of January to mid April.

Volunteer tax preparers work one on one with a customer to prepare an accurate personal income tax return. Not to worry, the IRS trains you and certifies that you have passed the test to prepare taxes.

Volunteer tax preparers help low-moderate income persons learn about financial security.

We are also in the need of:
Volunteer Site Coordinators who organize and supervise all aspects of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which includes management of the VITA Site during the tax filing season.

Volunteer Greeters who are responsible to screen all customers making sure all necessary documentation has been brought to the tax site.

Volunteer Schedulers who assist in collecting data and making appointments for taxpayers accessing VITA services.

Tax Savings Specialists will support tax preparers by promoting options to clients to consider savings, financial education, and financial coaching.

Last year CAHS' VITA Coalition electronically filed 16,000+ tax returns.

The free tax centers operate in various locations in New Haven, Bridgeport, Stratford, Norwalk, Stamford, Norwich, Danbury, Waterbury, Thomaston.

If you have any questions please contact Takima Robinson VITA/Asset Building Manager at trobinson@cahs.org or (860) 951-2212 ext. 229.
